I think this goes to show that party lines are not going to solve the health care crisis. The reality is we need to engage this subject from a 'what is best for America' model and not a 'what is best for our party' model. The infighting in the democrats ranks will hurt them in the long run and currently is doing nothing to further solid accomplishment.

The very manner in which Baucus et al have gone about financing this fiasco demonstrates their total lack of understanding of the issues involved, and what the real cost drivers are. For instance the tax on "cadillac" plans: (a) is idiotic on it's face, since everyone knows that any additional cost factor is passed on to the consumer no matter which party you say you are intending to tax, so it does not further the stated goal of making health care/health insurance more affordable; and (b) they intend to base the tax on the premium price, rather than the benefit provided. Since premiums are substantially higher for sicker individuals, this tax will ultimately fall on those who already have very high out of pocket costs for healthcare and so, most need affordable coverage.<br>So far every single action I have seen any of idiots propose will only exacerbate the current situation and send healthcare costs through the roof for everyone. How is it possible for them to be so thoroughly out of touch with reality.

Just want to say that I'm in a union and it has negotiated the crappiest health care package I've ever been a part of and in some ways is worse than having no insurance
